About

A seasoned higher education executive and governance leader, I bring more than four decades of experience in strategic planning, board operations, and data‑driven institutional transformation. I was an early pioneer in applying data mining, AI, and predictive modeling to enrollment strategy and institutional planning, co‑authoring foundational works including Data Mining in Action (2005) and Entry Points to U.S. Education (2024).

I previously served as Vice Chancellor and later as Provost for the San Mateo Colleges of Silicon Valley, where I led academic and student affairs, accreditation, policy development, and global initiatives. Under my leadership, international enrollment grew more than 1,500% in four years and became one of the top programs of its kind nationally.

My board service spans school boards, nonprofit foundations, and education‑focused organizations, giving me deep grounding in fiduciary oversight, strategic governance, executive evaluation, and organizational accountability. I also coached nationally for Achieving the Dream for more than a decade, supporting institutions in improving student success and equity outcomes.

Recipient of the JFK Presidential Award in 2020 and 50 Voices of the Americas in 2025, I have been recognized for national leadership in advancing U.S. education and economic impact. I now focus on contributing governance, strategy, and analytical insight to mission‑driven boards.
